Administrative Assistant to Publisher
(Full Time)
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform various operational duties that are typical of an office environment:
taking phone calls, drafting or writing letters in English, contacting authors,
bookstores, libraries, organizing and maintaining files, etc. Use personal computers
to run word processing, spreadsheet, database management, desktop publishing,
and graphics programs.
Special duties will include applying for publishing cataloging information
and listing new titles with various publishing directories and databases. Some
other publishing-related duties may also be involved.
This is basically an entry-level position with a lot of room for growth and
promotion
Qualifications and Skills Needed
Must be proficient in English, competent in spelling, punctuation, grammar,
and oral communication. Must be computer literate, very familiar with Word,
Excel, and Access. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills. Must
be adaptable, versatile, and be willing to learn to utilize updated software
packages and operate new office equipment.
Knowledge of an Asian language, especially mandarin Chinese, is an added bonus.
Book lovers will be given priority consideration, other things being equal.

Internships (Flexible hours)
Homa & Sekey Books is pleased to offer part- or full time internships to
qualified applicants. Most internship positions are non-paying, with flexible
hours (we offer a small stipend to the interns: enough for lunch, transportation,
and little else), but these are positions that may lead young book enthusiasts
to glory in the world of books. Internship programs are available throughout
the year. Internship assignments exist in a variety of areas within the company
such as Editorial, Publicity, Marketing, Graphic Design, Production, and Customer
Service. Interns should have basic computer skills, an interest in books and
publishing, and a good command of the rules of English grammar.
