“书法卷”辑录了收藏或流传于北京的晋代至清代的墨书150多件，多为手卷、册页、立幅等极具艺术性的书法作品。随着书页的翻动，中国书法史几个重要阶段徐徐展现在读者面前：晋、北齐、唐人的写经，呈现出隶书向楷书过渡的形态；宋代黄庭坚的草书《腊梅三咏》诗卷、元代鲜于枢的行草书《韩愈＜进学解＞》卷自由奔放的线条，是作者心性的自然流露，均为难得的珍品；此外，本卷还收录了文徵明、祝允明、董其昌、王铎、朱耷、郑燮、金农等一大批在中国书法史上享有盛誉的书家的作品，尤其是一些鲜明地展现清代书法由帖向碑的回归所呈现出的雄浑之风的作品。
