About the Author 刘先平

 

Liu Xianping, regarded as the father of contemporary Chinese nature literature, has been exploring nature for more than 40 years. He travelled extensively in China, spending long periods of time in the wilds, e.g. in Xinjiang, Yunnan, Tibet and other areas. He has written four novels including A Legend of Giant Pandas (Homa & Sekey Books, 2021) and dozens of adventure stories about exploring in the wildlife world. His works have won three national prizes for children's literature. He has received a National Outstanding Children's Literature Award on two occasions. In 2010, Liu Xianping was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. In 2011 and 2012, he was listed as a candidate for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. He is an honorary member of the Chinese Writers Association.

 

About the Translator

 

Zhang Yi graduated from Dalian University of Foreign Languages in 1996. Now an associate professor at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Zhang takes much interest in translation practice and research. To date, he has completed the translation of about twenty books which cover finance, history, culture, archaeology, politics, sociology and etc. Dozens of academic papers have been completed with the attention mainly on the use of translation theories in different texts.
